Health Care

As a nurse, I have first-hand experience with many of the health care issues facing our community. I am dedicated to improving our state's system for physical and mental health services, and have been deeply involved in a variety of legislation as a member of the House Health Care and Wellness Committee.

Our most vulnerable family members, children and seniors, are hurt the most by this flawed system. I have fought to protect and provide quality health care for children, seniors, and our entire community.

Every child deserves health care, no matter who their parents are. I have led the charge to pass new legislation to provide coverage to every child in Washington State. I voted to prohibit the Department of Social Health Services from forcing premiums on children in our lowest income families so they don’t have to choose between food and health care. Our senior citizens face some of the highest health care costs at a time in their lives when they have no income to support new medical bills. I have voted to assist senior citizens with the cost of prescriptions.

To support our citizens and small businesses get access to quality health care, I voted to assist small businesses in providing their employees with the coverage that the employees need but the businesses could not afford. I will continue to fight to make healthcare accessible to every citizen in Washington State. Strong communities make bright futures, and we cannot have strong communities without healthy citizens.
